USCD Director Describes How Global Platform "OptIPuter" Opens New Frontiers

Dr. Larry Smarr, UCSD professor and Director of the California Institute for Telecommunications and Information Technology, presented "Shrinking the Planet: How Dedicated Optical Networks Are Transforming Computational Science and Collaboration" at a Frontiers in Computational & Information Sciences Seminar held August 25 at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. The seminar series features invited speakers from industry and government to discuss innovations and advancements in the computer sciences.
